Seared Ahi Tuna

I love a delicious seared ahi tuna. This ahi marinade tastes professionally made and is oh-so-simple to make, marinade, and grill. Enjoy with a bowl of rice, on a salad, with some grilled vegetables, or however you like- the recipe offers versatility. Nothing beats a self-prepared and freshly seared ahi tuna. Pure satisfaction!

Ahi Tuna

2 pounds of wild caught yellow fin tuna steaks

1 cup of liquid aminos

2 tablespoons of sesame oil

1 tablespoon of toasted sesame seeds

1 tablespoon of crushed pepper

2 green onions chopped

1 tablespoon of avocado oil for cooking

Spicy Coleslaw

1 small head of green cabbage chopped

1 medium carrot shredded

4 green onions chopped

3 cloves of garlic minced

2 tablespoons of liquid aminos

2 tablespoons of rice wine vinegar

2 tablespoons of turbinado sugar

2 tablespoons of crushed red pepper

1 tablespoon of sesame oil

1 tablespoon of sesame seeds

salt to taste

Avocado (optional)

Instructions:

Step 1: In a large mixing bowl combine ingredients for the ahi tuna: liquid aminos, sesame oil, toasted sesame seeds, crushed pepper, and green onions.  Whisk together.

Step 2: Add the yellow fin tuna and coat it with the freshly whisked mixture.

Step 3: Cover and place in the fridge to marinate for about 1 hour.

Step 4: In another mixing bowl combine the ingredients for the spicy coleslaw: liquid aminos, rice wine vinegar, sugar, red pepper, sesame oil, sesame seeds and salt.  Whisk together.

Step 5: Add in your chopped cabbage, green onions, carrot, and garlic and mix with a spoon until everything is mixed together.

Step 6: Cover and store in your refrigerator until you are ready to eat it.

Step 7: Once the tuna is done marinating, remove it from the fridge.

Step 8: Heat up a large pan on medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of avocado oil (you can also use your outdoor grill).

Step 9: Once the pan is hot add the tuna to it and sear.  Sear it for about 2 to 3 minutes per side then remove from the pot.

Step 10: Enjoy.  Great for salad or sandwiches.
